Prashant Kishor Reveals Two Key Reasons Why Bihar’s Voting Turnout Hit Record Highs

Political strategist and Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor has attributed Bihar’s record-breaking voter turnout in the recent elections to two major factors that reflect a changing political mood in the state.

According to Kishor, the first reason is the growing political awareness among youth and first-time voters. Over the last few years, increased social media engagement and political discussions in rural as well as urban areas have led to a stronger sense of participation and responsibility among young voters.

The second reason, Kishor said, is the rising public desire for change and better governance. Many voters, he noted, were motivated by issues such as unemployment, education, and development — topics that dominated public discourse during the campaign.

He emphasized that the record turnout is not just a statistic but a sign of Bihar’s evolving democracy, where people are more willing than ever to make their voices heard.

“Bihar’s voters have shown that they are alert, aware, and eager to shape their future,” Kishor said. “This election marks the beginning of a new political chapter for the state.”
