Taking suo motu cognizance of the tragic incident that took place at R.G. Kar Medical Calcutta, the Honorable Supreme Court issued guidelines for the safety of doctors. In compliance with the given guidelines, Collector District Datia Mr Sandeep Kumar Makin ji, Superintendent of Police Mr Virendra Kumar Mishra, Dean Government Medical College, Datia Dr Deepak Singh Marawi organized a meeting and decided to install a pink alarm so that any unpleasant incident in the hospital premises could be prevented and women's safety could be ensured. The effect of the above facility was that after the incident of assault on the duty doctor at night, a major incident was prevented by immediately using the pink alarm.
Date 20.10.2024 at around 01:00 pm in the night, Dr Durga Prasad, whose duty was in the Surgical ICU and he was doing his government work. Thereafter, Dr. Durga Prasad was called to the Trauma Center by Emergency Medical Officer Dr. Kalpit Agarwal posted at the Trauma Center to see the patient. When Dr Durga Prasad was giving first aid to the patient Shivam Chauhan, son of Arvind, the patient Shivam Chauhan slapped Dr Durga Prasad on the cheek and abused him obscenely and the patient's companions Lala Gurjar, and Himmat Singh and Jitendra Rawat etc. started abusing the doctor. Along with the patient Shivam Chauhan, Lala Gurjar also pushed and shoved the doctor on duty. The patient Shivam Chauhan and his companion Dr. Kalpit Agarwal were also abused by the above four persons and government work was obstructed by abusing and assaulting the doctors posted at the Trauma Center District Hospital during duty. There was a crowd of about 30-40 people with him and they were armed. There was a possibility of an untoward incident. Then the doctor pressed the pink alarm button on the spot and the entire staff gathered there thinking that an accident had happened in the department. Immediately the hospital administration informed the administrative officers and police administration SDOP Priyanka Mishra about the incident. Taking immediate action, they sent a police force and prevented the untoward incident. In the above case, Medical Superintendent Dr Arjun Singh took immediate action under the zero-tolerance policy on the crime against doctors and reached the police station and immediately registered a departmental FIR against the accused whose case number is 0734/2024 and demanded immediate arrest of the accused.
