114 Yagna Kunds Dedicated to Global Peace and Harmony on Vijaya Dashami.

New Delhi, October 12, 2024 – Swaminarayan Akshardham Mandir in Delhi celebrated the sacred occasion of Vijaya Dashami (Dussehra) with the grand ‘Vishwashanti Mahayagna’, a spiritual ceremony dedicated to fostering world peace. A large gathering of devotees attended the festival with great enthusiasm, including the religious leaders.

This event, inspired by the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and H.H. Mahant Swamiji Maharaj, featured 114 Yagna Kunds (sacrificial fire pits) as part of this sacred offering. Around 2500 yajmans (ritual patrons) including 900 couples participated in the Yagna ritual.

Yash Sampat, the event in charge, informed, “Drawing from the profound wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita, the Mahayagna served as a conduit for worshipping Brahman, the Supreme Being, with the verse “All actions culminate in knowledge through Yagna” (Chapter 3, Verse 15) at its heart. Through this timeless Vedic ritual, devotees offered prayers for peace, seeking divine blessings for humanity.”

Throughout the day, participants recited sacred Vedic mantras, tapping into the spiritual energy of the Yagna and fostering a deep connection with ancient traditions. The 114 Yagna Kunds represented a collective effort to invoke blessings, healing, and harmony for all. Special prayers were also offered during the ceremony, calling for peaceful co-existence in the world amidst ongoing wars and armed conflicts.

Then Pujya Munivatsaldas Swami, the in-charge of Swaminarayan Akshardham Mandir said, "We have gathered today for this Yagna with the hope that peace prevails in the world, in the environment, in society, and within every individual. We pray that God brings happiness to all and their families and blesses them with good health. The Vedic mantras and the Swaminarayan Mahamantra that resounded at the start of this Yagna should be deeply absorbed into our lives. Through self-reflection, let us burn the 'Ravana' within us in such a way that it never returns. We also pray for an end to the many wars raging around the world and for God to grant peace to all."

As the event came to a close, the devotees were immersed in devotion and joy, carrying with them a message of self-reflection on the true meaning of the Vijaya Dashmi festival. The atmosphere was infused with a strong spiritual energy, leaving the devotees with a deep sense of spiritual fulfilment.
