DELHI POLICE COMMISSIONERATE DAY PARADE-2025

Delhi Police, today held its fourth Commissionerate Day Ceremonial Parade at Parade Ground, New Police Lines, Kingsway Camp, Delhi.  Sh. Vinai Kumar Saxena, Hon'ble LG Delhi took the salute as Chief Guest in the presence of Sh. Sanjay Arora, Commissioner of Police, Delhi.

Founded in 1861 after the adoption of the Indian Police Act, Delhi Police remained a part of the Punjab Police until 1947. In 1978, the Delhi Police Act was passed and the Commissionerate System was introduced with effect from 1st July 1978. Delhi Police, as part of its Platinum Jubilee Celebrations, initiated the Commissionerate Day Parade to be held every year on 1st of July, starting from the year - 2022, wherein the Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi takes the salute by virtue of being the Administrator of Delhi. 

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest Sh. Vinai Kumar Saxena, Hon'ble LG Delhi, at the outset congratulated everyone present and said that he felt proud on being part of this event for the fourth consecutive year and added that the mention of Delhi Police reminds us of words peace, service and justice inscribed on its logo. Delhi Police has augmented its efficiency year after year and on the present day it stands among the best police forces. The Chief Guest further added that Delhi Police carries the responsibility of the safety and security of more than 2 crore people and being national capital, the VIP movements happens here every day and despite all the challenges Delhi Police discharges its duties with full responsibility. The Chief Guest also lauded the commendable work done by Delhi Police to curb cyber-crime, human trafficking, illegal immigrants, drug trade and other illegal activities during the last one year. The Chief Guest praised the use of technology in crackdown against criminals and other initiatives to enhance people's trust in the organisation and also appreciated the steps taken by Delhi Police in the line of SMART policing like Smart Police Booths, revival of ZIPNET portal, making registration of Zero E-FIR citizen-friendly. The Chief Guest expressed that it is a matter of pride for all of us that in the Republic Day Parade, Delhi Police has won the title of best marching contingent for 17 times and this year too, this title remained with Delhi Police. Winning of FICCI Smart Policing Jury Award for forensic innovation by Delhi Police is a proof of it becoming more technically capable. The Chief Guest also paid tribute to the police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty and also commended today’s award recipients.

In his welcome address, Sh. Sanjay Arora, Commissioner of Police, Delhi welcomed the Chief Guest Sh. Vinai Kumar Saxena, Hon'ble LG Delhi and also welcomed Former Police Commissioners, Retired Officers and personnel, Senior Citizens, Distinguished Guests & Media Persons present on the occasion and mentioned that during last one year, Delhi Police has taken strict measures to curb drug abuse, cyber-crime, crime against women and children, organised crime, illegal migration as well as white collar economic crime. The CP Delhi further added that keeping in mind the call of our Hon'ble Prime Minister and Union Home Minister for a drug-free India and owing to continuous support and inspiration received from the Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor, Delhi Police has intensified its action against drug abuse. In the year 2024, more than 26,000 KGs of drugs worth around Rs 9,200 crore were destroyed and during the same year, action under PITNDPS Act has been taken against 7 criminals and property worth around Rs 4.75 crore has been seized. Also, 6 cases have been registered under MCOCA against criminals involved in organized drug trade in 2024 and by the persistent concerted efforts, till June this year, 4,900 KGs of drugs worth around Rs 6 crore have been destroyed. This shows Delhi Police’s unwavering commitment to make Delhi a drug-free city. Speaking about the successful implementation of new criminal laws, CP Delhi said that for an effective implementation, all police personnel have been trained and so far, more than 2.5 lakh FIRs have been registered under the new law and out of which charge sheets in more than 62,000 cases have been filed. CP Delhi expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guest for graciously accepting the invitation to attend today’s event despite his busy schedule.

The parade led by Parade Commander Sh. Mahendra Singh Charan, ACP was a display of discipline, strength and precision. The parade having 6 Companies consisting 18 platoons marched in a perfect synchrony. It featured a company each from all six territorial ranges of Delhi Police viz. Southern Range, New Delhi Range, Western Range, Eastern Range, Northern Range and Central Range. Each company comprised 3 platoons of women and men police personnel of respective ranges and a platoon of Delhi Armed Police, Ministerial Staff, SWAT Squad, Delhi Police Security Battalion, Communication Unit and Traffic Police respectively marching in synchrony with each company. 

The Chief Guest Hon'ble LG Delhi presented 'Ahat Veer Samman Patra' to honour those police personnel who have sustained injury or have attained martyrdom while facing some adverse situation on field in the line of duty. The 'Ahat Veer Samman Patra-2025' was conferred posthumously on 4 police personnel including (1) Late ASI Satbir Singh, the award was received by his wife Smt. Madhubala, (2) Ct. Hemant Yadav, the award was received by his wife Smt. Nidhi Kumari, (3) Ct. Viktor N., the award was received by his sister Ms. N.G. Rose, (4) Ct. (Dvr.) Nikhil Yadav, the award was received by his father Sh. Manoj Kumar.
Police personnel receiving 'Ahat Veer Samman Patra-2025' for sustaining injury in the line of duty included Inspr. Ravinder Kumar Tyagi and team comprising SI Ashok Kumar, ASI Deepak Kumar Tiwari & Ct. Manikant Singh and for other separate incidents ASI Jiyanand, ASI Bhupendra Singh, Ct. Sandeep Kumar and Ct. Neeraj Kumar & DHG Ct. Ashok Kumar.

The Chief Guest also distributed awards for ‘The Best Police Station in Cleanliness’ category.  PS Greater Kailash was selected for the first position, SHO Insp Bhanu Pratap received the first position trophy while PS Sultanpuri came second and SHO Insp Ravindra Malik received the trophy from the Chief Guest. Awards in another category i.e.                                   ‘Best Residential Colony of Delhi Police’ were also distributed. SI Ombir Tyagi received trophy from the Chief Guest for Police Colony Nyayik Abhiraksha Vahini, Vikaspuri (Big Colony Category), HC Harwinder Singh Gill for Police Colony Rohini Sector-11 (Medium Colony Category) and SI M.A. Yadav for Staff Quarters, DCP Office Complex, Janakpuri (Small Colony Category). 

Dignitaries including former Commissioners of Police and several retired as well as serving senior police officers graced the occasion with their presence.
