World Mental Health Day was celebrated on 10 October by the Department of Psychiatry, Government Medical College Datia, in which Chief Guest Dean Datia Medical College Dr. Deepak Singh Marawi, Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Arjun Singh, Dr. Pradeep Shukla, Dr. Rajesh Gupta, Dr. Vivek Verma, Dr. TNS Gaur, Dr. Abhishek Sharma, Dr. P Adhikari, Dr. Praveen Tagore, Dr. Shubhanshu Gupta, Dr. Raju Tiwari, Dr. Nidhi Agarwal and other doctors were present. The program was conducted by Dr. Nidhi Agarwal and Dr. Rajesh Singh Senior Resident Psychiatry Department.
Head of Psychiatry Department Dr. Amrita Chauhan organized a seminar on the theme of World Mental Health Day *Give priority to mental health at workplace* among junior, senior, PG resident and MBBS students, in which the importance of better mental health at workplace was discussed and information was given about the causes and prevention of increasing stress and suicide among doctors. If you have thoughts like mental stress, depression and suicide, talk to your family and consult a psychiatrist. And also information was given to avoid drug abuse! Also, to stay free from mental stress, yoga, regular exercise, balanced diet, adequate sleep, spending time with nature and living in harmony with each other were advised. Dean of Datia College, Dr. Deepak Singh Maravi spoke his mind to the MBBS students and asked them about their good and bad experiences. And advised them to share any mental health problem with their classmates and teachers and consult a psychiatrist if needed.
Also the Dean also told that soon a mentor-mate program will be started for the students in Medical College Datia, in which students will be able to share their problems directly with their mentor! The Department of Psychiatry organized a poster/slogan competition and reel competition among MBBS students. The winning students in the competition were honored by the Dean and Head of the Department of Psychiatry of Datia Medical College, Dr. Amrita Chauhan by giving certificates and prizes!
