If the audience is not able to reach the drama, then the drama should reach the audience: Sawant

Tahir Kamaal Siddiqui - Indore.

Well-known writer, stage trainer, director and big artist of small and big screen Yogesh Sawant said that in the changing times, the responsibility of taking the drama to the audience should also be of the artists. The subject of the drama should be conceived in such a way that it can be played from the big stage to the village Chaupal under a banyan tree.

Mr. Sawant told in the face-to-face program of State Press Club, MP that he has done more than three hundred performances of the solo drama 'Anand Doh' on the life of Saint Tukaram. On the 350th birthday of Saint Tukaramji, Yogeshji wishes that the 350th staging of the drama should also be at the birthplace of Tukaramji. Like Sant Tukaram, he has also given more than 150 solo performances on the life of Swatantra Veer Savarkar and is also bringing a big OTT web series in three parts on Savarkarji's life. The web series will be based on Savarkarji's childhood, his life imprisonment and his life after imprisonment.

Yogesh Sawant, famous for his natural intense acting in the films Drishyam One and Two and the character of the country's former Defense Minister Late Manohar Parrikar in the film Uri, The Final Attack, is also going to present a solo play on the life of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar. This play named Devi is of total 90 minutes, which has been researched, written and directed by Yogesh Sawant. The character of this play is Rashmi Dev of Pune. Mr. Sawant is also trying to present the play at 100 places in the tri-birth centenary celebration year of Ahilya Maa Saheb. He told that in the play, the artist communicates with Ahilya Maa Saheb in the mirror while doing makeup and it has taken the entire life journey of her from birth to becoming Devi Ahilyabai. This play will also be played in Indore on 16 May.

Shri Sawant also expressed satisfaction that now Marathi films are going to come dubbed in various languages ??on OTT platforms. It will start on Amazon Prime because the number of people who know how to speak, write and read Marathi in the country is limited.

But if these films are dubbed in other languages ??including Hindi, then it will reach a very large audience. When Hindi viewers also watch Marathi films, they will realize how good cinema is made with a new and different story, a powerful screenplay, strong characters and a social message.

Shri Sawant praised South Indian films and said that they pay a lot of attention to their language and culture and are also ahead in dubbing films in other languages, film promotion etc. He also believes that the way parallel cinema struggles in front of cinema, in the same way parallel or intense theater also struggles in front of mainstream drama.

In the case of historical films, Mr. Sawant believes that if a new truth or a new aspect of it is coming out from research, then it should be presented correctly to the public. If Aurangzeb has committed brutal atrocities and violence on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje, then it needs to be shown in the correct writing. He also believes that the person who conceptualizes or the writer is the most important in any film, serial or creation. After this comes the role of the director and the actor. Currently, he is the head of the department in the theater wing of Performing Arts at Mumbai University.

In the beginning, Praveen Khariwal, Sonali Yadav, Deepak Maheshwari, Arjun Chauhan Nayak, Nitesh Upadhyay welcomed Mr. Sawant. The program was conducted by Pankaj Kshirsagar. Bansi Lalwani expressed his gratitude.
