Allegations of discrimination against the SBI branch in Meghnagar: Priority given to

Ordinary customers were pressured to close their accounts when they requested new notes. Contact numbers and addresses of senior officials were missing from the bank's signboard.

Hundreds of customers hoping to receive new notes for Diwali faced disappointment and favoritism at the State Bank of India (SBI) Meghnagar branch.

Customers are accusing the bank management of acting arbitrarily, prioritizing their favorites, and treating ordinary people unfairly.

As soon as news of the arrival of new notes was received, long queues began to form outside the bank. However, the excitement quickly turned to anger and disappointment.

The bank management was constantly changing the rules for the customers in the queue.

People in the queue said that ordinary customers were only receiving one or two thousand rupee notes, while influential people were taking away large quantities of new notes.

Lack of transparency has fueled customer outrage.

There appears to be no clear policy regarding the distribution of new notes. According to customers, bank employees are periodically introducing new rules.

First, they were told that only account holders would receive notes, then they were told that only 1,000 rupee notes would be issued per person, and later they were told that a recommendation from the bank manager was required on the back of the check.

Customer Nimish Jain said, "When we ask for new notes, the bank manager is pressuring us to close our account.

This is completely arbitrary. We've been waiting since morning for new notes, but when our turn comes, the rules change."

Those with internal connections are taking away new notes of ten thousand rupees, while the bank manager is threatening to close our accounts."

Another customer, Tarun Patidar, said, "This is outright corruption. We all have the same money, so how can the bank manager decide who gets how many notes? It's like 'distributing notes based on face value.' Those with influence are getting all the notes, while ordinary people are turned away and pressured to close their bank accounts."

Bank Management's Ambiguous Stance...

In this matter, Bank Manager Deepti Chandravanshi stated that the notes were being distributed based on account holders, and the cashiers were being given the notes based on the instructions I had written on the back of the checks.

However, when asked about the total amount of new currency that arrived at the bank, the manager maintained it was confidential, while other banks had made this information public.

Preparations to File a Complaint

This entire incident has sparked deep anger among customers. Samajwadi Party District President Kalsingh Machar stated that the bank's information board does not provide contact numbers for complaints, which violates customer rights.

We are being asked to close our accounts.

This matter should be investigated immediately and strict action should be taken against the guilty officer, including his immediate removal.

This discrimination against customers on the auspicious occasion of Diwali has raised serious questions about transparency and equal treatment in public sector banks. Customer Kalsingh Machar stated that he will take this matter to the bank's higher authorities and file a complaint.
