  • More than 20 thousand devotees arriving in a day
  • 7350 pilgrims reached Kedarnath Dham on Monday
  • So far 38 lakh pilgrims have come for darshan in this Yatra period

Dehradun - Due to better travel management and security arrangements of the state government, there is a lot of enthusiasm among the pilgrims about the Char Dham Yatra. As soon as the monsoon stopped, the journey has again picked up pace. On September 30, 20497 devotees reached Char Dham Darshan. Of these, the highest number of 7350 pilgrims reached Kedarnath Dham. If we look at the number of the entire Yatra period so far, about 38 lakh devotees have come for Char Dham Darshan. The government has taken great steps to deal with the Kedar Ghati disaster. The speed with which the situation has been normalized by putting in all the effort has deepened the faith of the pilgrims in the government. The pilgrims have flocked to visit Baba Kedar with full enthusiasm and faith.

The safety of Chardham pilgrims has been the top priority of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. According to this motto of the Chief Minister, the effect of the travel arrangements and arrangements of the state government has been seen on the Yatra. The way the government dealt with the major disaster that occurred in Kedarghati on July 31 has been praised by the common pilgrims wholeheartedly. There was no delay in the safe evacuation of the pilgrims and local residents stranded on the footpath and halts. About 18 thousand people were rescued safely and were safely taken to their destination. Not only this, while restoring normal life in Kedarghati, the journey was also started by improving the footpath.

Now the second phase of the journey has gained momentum. A large number of pilgrims have registered for the journey in the months of October and November as well. On September 30, 22 thousand 244 devotees including Hemkund and Gomukh reached the Chardham Yatra. Apart from Kedarnath, 6811 devotees reached Badrinath, 3619 Gangotri, 2717 Yamunotri, 1632 Hemkund and 115 devotees reached Gomukh.

Chardham Yatra will set a record

During this Yatra period, till September 30, a total of 37 lakh 91 thousand 205 pilgrims have come for Chardham Darshan, whereas last year 56.13 lakh pilgrims had arrived during the entire Yatra period. Similarly, 46.29 lakh pilgrims reached Chardham Darshan in the year 2022 and 34.77 lakh pilgrims reached in the year 2019. The Yatra was affected due to Corona infection in the year 2020 and 2021. The number of pilgrims in these two years was 3.30 lakh and 5.29 lakh respectively.

This year the Chardham Yatra started with a delay of 17 days

This year the Chardham Yatra started on May 10, while last year the opening of the doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham on April 23 started the journey. Then the doors of Kedarnath were opened on April 25 and the doors of Badrinath Dham on April 27. This year the doors of Gangotri, Yamunotri and Kedarnath Dham opened 17 days later i.e. on May 10, while the journey to Badrinath Dham started on May 12. The journey will continue till November next month.

The journey was also affected by the Kedarghati disaster

The terrible disaster that occurred in Kedarghati on the night of July 31 has also affected the journey. Although the Dhami government restored normal life within a few days by doing rapid relief and rescue work, but the journey was stopped for several days due to security reasons.

  • Eye on better travel management.
  • Twenty parking lots created on the Kedarnath Dham Yatra route.
  • A QR code-based system for parking management.
  • Deployment of sector magistrates for traffic management.
  • 850 CCTV cameras and 8 drones for monitoring the yatra.
  • Establishment of 56 tourism help centers for the convenience of the travelers.
  • A total of 657 environment friends deployed to clean the track route.
  • Establishment of 50 screening kiosks on the yatra route by the Health Department. Health friends are deployed.
  • 156 ambulances deployed on the yatra route.
  • 8 blood banks and 2 storage units established
  • 49 permanent health facilities and 26 medical relief posts.
  • 22 specialists, 179 medical officers and 299 paramedical staff deployed.

Quote - Smooth, safe, accessible and well-organized Chardham Yatra is the top priority of the government. Every year lakhs of devotees from the country and abroad come on the Chardham Yatra. Our government is committed to providing a safe environment to the travelers. Chardham Yatra is also linked to the economy of the state. In view of the speed with which the number of devotees is increasing in the state today, we will have to expand the travel arrangements further. The exercise for this has also been started. This time the arrangements were affected due to the Kedarghati disaster, but the government faced this difficult challenge firmly and restored the Kedar Yatra.
