Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on Thursday and requested for early approval of several important road and infrastructure projects of Uttarakhand.
The Chief Minister has said that in recent years, due to a huge increase in the number of tourists during the Chardham Yatra, the traffic pressure on the roads of the state has increased. Therefore, along with increasing the traffic carrying capacity of the roads and proper maintenance, implementation of these projects of the state government's top priority is necessary in view of regional connectivity, tourism and economic progress.
During the meeting with the Union Road Transport and Highways Minister, the Chief Minister prominently raised the matter of early reimbursement of the remaining ? 367.69 crore to the state government under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund. The Chief Minister also requested to approve the Rishikesh bypass project and notify the 33 km long state highway from Biharigarh to Roshnabad as a national highway. He also requested to give national highway status to the 189 km long route from Kathgodam to Pancheshwar.
The Chief Minister also requested to approve the proposed elevated road on Bindal and Rispana rivers as a loop of NH-07 to solve the problem of traffic jam in Dehradun city.
The Chief Minister requested to approve Rs 1000 crore for the first phase of the project costing Rs 8000 crore for the improvement of 20 roads of 508 km length connected to mythological temples under the Manaskhand project. Apart from this, a revised cost of Rs 1000 crore has been approved for the construction of the proposed bypass road after the construction of the ring road in Khatima. Also, a request was made to approve an amount of Rs 371.84 crore for the re-alignment of NH-109 affected by the expansion of Pantnagar Airport and additional assistance of Rs 110 crore for the proposed metro corridor on NH-07.
The Chief Minister requested for early approval of widening works from Barwala to Lakhwar Band (28 km) on NH 507 and from Dugadda to Gumkhal (18.10 km) on NH 534. The Chief Minister requested for early approval of all the proposed projects in view of the difficult geographical conditions of the state. Union Minister Shri Gadkari assured positive action on all the proposals. Union Minister of State for Road Transport Shri Ajay Tamta, Principal Secretary Shri R K Sudhanshu, Shri R Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey and Resident Commissioner Shri Ajay Mishra were present on the occasion.
