Veteran Journalist Ram Bahadur Rai Turns 80, Rajnath Singh Attends Grand Celebration

The 80th birthday function of Veteran Journalist Ram Bahadur Rai was celebrated by his well wishers at the Ambedkar Sansthan in New Delhi this evening. The Defence Minister, Raj Nath Singh was the chief guest of function. It had been organized by Prabhat Prakashan and Pragya Sansthan.

On this occasion , a book based on Shri Rambahadur Rai, titled Assi Ke Rai Sahab, was launched by Rajnath Singh, Bhupender Yadav, and senior journalist Banwari, senior journalist, Hemant Sharma.Ram Bahadur Rai is Padm Vibhushan, awardee, founder trustee of Pragya sansthan and chairperson of Indira Gandhi National Art Center
In his address, Rajnath Singh described Rai Sahab as a towering figure in journalism, standing firm with integrity. He noted that Rai Sahab upheld the glory of journalism like Kabir, wielded the power of expression like Tulsidas, and advanced the Hindi language like Bharatendu Harishchandra. Rai Sahab is a dedicated devotee of the written word; for him,
journalism is an opportunity for public service. His path is one of systemic transformation, and he serves as a guide to society. While people often view journalism merely as a profession, this discipline teaches one to remain honest to the pen. Rajnath Singh mentioned that although Rai Sahab had the option to enter Parliament, he chose instead to traverse the entire journey of journalism—from the very basics to the pinnacle. His authentic journalism often sees him standing up even against his own associates, a stance that has, at times, emboldened the opposition.
Bhupender Yadav stated that Rambahadur Rai is a journalist whose writing is rooted in grassroots struggles. He stands firmly by the truth and has consistently raised
questions of truth within the realm of journalism.
Presiding over the event, senior journalist Banwari remarked that Rai Sahab is known for his humility and lack of self-deception. He noted that virtues such as propriety, integrity, and humility lie at the core of Indian tradition. While fundamentally a political figure, Rai Sahab strictly adheres to journalistic ethics in his role as a journalist.
