EASTERN RANGE-I, CRIME BRANCH BUSTS ILLEGAL LIQUOR SUPPLY NETWORK, ONE ARRESTED WITH HUGE CONSIGNMENT

• 53 Cartons of Illicit Liquor Seized 
• One accused person arrested from area of Mangolpuri. 
• One Car used in supplying recovered 
Continuing the sustained drive against illicit liquor smuggling in pursuant to directions of senior officers, a dedicated team of Eastern Range -1, Crime Branch led by Insp. Ashish Sharma, comprising of SI Prakash, SI Ranjit Singh, SI Guman Singh, ASI Ashok, ASI Sandeep Chawla, HC Amit, HC Manish, and HC Saurav under the close supervision of ACP Sunil Shrivastav, ER-1/Crime Branch has successfully busted a major illicit liquor supply racket operating in the city. 
 
A well-coordinated raid was conducted at Mangolpuri on the intervening night of 12/13 September 2025, resulting in the seizure of 53 cartons of illicit liquor and arrest of one accused. 
 
INCIDENT & OPERATION:  
 
On the evening of 12.09.2025, a secret informer approached ER-I Crime Branch, Old Kondli, Mayur Vihar Phase-III and tipped off regarding a Grey Tata Nexon car that would arrive with a huge consignment of illegal liquor from Haryana for delivery at B Block, near Tanga Stand in Mangolpuri between 05:00 AM – 06:00 AM on 13.09.2025. 
 
The information was verified and after due directions of senior officers for immediate action, a raiding party comprising SI Ranjit Singh, SI Guman Singh, ASI Ashok Kumar, ASI Sandeep Chawla, HC Amit and HC Saurav was constituted. 
 
The team, reached the identified location in the early morning hour. Undeterred, the team strategically deployed themselves in and around the narrow lanes of B-Block, Mangolpuri, maintaining complete secrecy. 
 
At about 05:45 AM, a Tata Nexon Grey car (UP-14FJ-44XX) was spotted entering the area and halting near a House. Two suspicious persons alighted from the vehicle and began waiting near it.  
 
On sensing police presence, both suspects attempted to flee, abandoning the vehicle. Displaying alertness and courage, the Crime Branch team swiftly chased and overpowered one suspect after a brief scuffle, while the other managed to escape taking advantage of the congested lanes. The arrested accused was identified as Rajeev @ Ajay S/o Sh. Rakesh Kumar R/o Distt Kanpur UP, Age 20 years. 
 
On opening the Tata Nexon car, a huge consignment of liquor cartons was recovered. After thorough counting and inspection, it was found that the car was carrying 53 cartons of illicit liquor, sourced illegally from Haryana. 
 
The entire operation was marked by meticulous planning, precise execution, and quick response under pressure. Despite challenges of sudden attempt by suspects to flee, the raiding party maintained composure and ensured the success of the raid. 
 
INTERROGATION: 
 
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused along with his associates was part of a supply chain wherein illicit liquor is procured from Haryana, transported in private vehicles, and delivered to bootleggers in Delhi. The liquor cartons carried clear markings of “For Sale in Haryana Only”, confirming inter-state smuggling. 
 
The modus operandi of the syndicate was to procure illicit liquor from Haryana and smuggle it into Delhi using private vehicles, mainly a Dark Grey Tata Nexon car fitted with fake or tampered number plates to avoid police checking. The liquor consignments were transported during odd hours (late night or early morning) and stored in a makeshift godown located a house at B-Block in Mangolpuri, managed by one Tony, the kingpin of the racket.  
 
From there, the liquor was distributed to local bootleggers across Mangolpuri and adjoining areas.  
 
 
DETAIL OF ACCUSED PERSONS ARRESTED :  
 
Rajeev @ Ajay S/o Sh. Rakesh Kumar R/o  PS Maharajpur, Distt Kanpur UP, Age 20 years 
 
RECOVERY:  
On thorough checking of the seized Tata Nexon car, 53 cartons of illicit liquor were recovered. The total recovery is  over 2,500 liquor bottles.The consignment was brought illegally from Haryana and was intended for distribution in Delhi during the festive season.  
           Further efforts are going on to arrest the absconding persons involved in the present case.
