Lok Sabha Elections-2024: Permission will have to be taken for the use of loudspeakers

Gwalior Pavan Paruthi:- Provision of jail up to 6 months and fine of one thousand rupees for violation of the order issued by the District Election Officer under the Noise Control Act.

19 March 2024/ Permission will have to be taken for the use of loudspeakers in the district. Collector and District Election Officer Mrs. Ruchika Chauhan has issued an order under the Madhya Pradesh Noise Control Act and Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules 2000, setting the conditions for the use of sound amplifying devices. Sound amplifiers can be used only from 6 am to 10 pm after taking permission from the prescribed authority. For violation of the order, there is a provision of imprisonment up to 6 months and a fine of one thousand rupees or both.
Any person, candidate, his election agent or members and supporters of political parties will have to take permission from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of the concerned area for the use of loudspeakers. Only after taking permission, the sound amplifier can be used up to the prescribed noise standard of 10 dBA from 6 am to 10 pm. Permission to use loudspeakers in rallies etc. in more than one sub-division area will have to be obtained from the Additional District Magistrate. Permission will have to be applied for at least a day in advance.
According to the order of the District Election Officer, 200 meters from government offices, hospitals, nursing homes, telephone exchanges, court areas, educational institutions, hostels, local authority offices, banks and other such areas which come under the category of quiet areas. The use of loudspeakers will be prohibited within the perimeter. It has also been made clear in the order that no pre-recorded music or voice will be allowed to be played on tape or otherwise in any public place.
