Cylinder will be available in Bhopal for Rs 808.50, Ujjwala’s price is Rs 503. Domestic gas cylinder became expensive by 88 percent in 4 years, then became cheaper by 27 percent

Indore Rahim Sherani: On the occasion of Mahashivratri, the Central Government, giving relief to the consumers, directly reduced the price of domestic cylinder (14.2 kg) by Rs 100. Due to this, the domestic cylinder costing Rs 908.50 became Rs 808.50 in the capital. For the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, the price of LPG cylinder has become Rs 503.
There was also a cut on 30 August 2023.

Then Rs 200 were reduced from Rs 1108. From then till now consumers had to buy cylinders at this price. Similarly, commercial cylinder which is currently being supplied at Rs 1803. Its price in August 2023 was Rs 1690. However, on Friday only the price of domestic gas cylinder has been reduced.
Earlier, there was change in prices during Rakshabandhan.

Earlier, on the occasion of Rakshabandhan, the government had reduced the price of domestic gas cylinder (14.2 kg) by Rs 200. Then the price had reduced from Rs 1103 to Rs 903 in Delhi, Rs 908 in Bhopal, Rs 906 in Jaipur. Union Minister Anurag Thakur
It was said that PM Modi has given a big gift to the sisters by reducing the prices on the festivals of Onam and Rakshabandhan. 33 crore consumers of the country will benefit from this.

Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojana subsidy increased by one more year

The Central Government has recently extended the subsidy of Rs 300 given on LPG cylinder under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana till March 31, 2025. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting on March 7. The Union Minister had said that more than 10 crore women will benefit from this scheme. The number of subsidized cylinders has also been increased. Earlier subsidy was available on 10 cylinders, now it has been increased to 12.

27 percent cheaper than the higher price

The price of LPG cylinder is decided by oil marketing companies considering their profits and losses. If we assess the prices of the past years, in May 2020, consumers were getting domestic gas cylinder locally for Rs 588. By August 2023, its price increased to Rs 1108.50. That means it increased by about 88 percent.
On August 30, 2023, the cylinder price dropped by Rs 200 to Rs 908.50. Now it becomes Rs 808.50. That means the cylinder became cheaper by about 27 percent but compared to May 2020, the LPG cylinder is still more expensive by about 37 percent. Similarly, commercial cylinder (19 kg) which is currently being supplied at Rs 1803, is 74 percent more than in May 2020.

How many cylinders can we take?

A new rule was decided for LPG cylinders in the year 2022. A cardholder can buy only a maximum of 15 LPG cylinders in a year. At that time a rule was made that if eligible then 12 out of 15 cylinders can be subsidized. Whatever cylinder you buy above 12, it will be without subsidy.

◆ Gas prices are decided by oil marketing companies. After the rate is declared, it has to be implemented immediately. On Mahashivratri, the price of domestic gas cylinder has been reduced by Rs 100. Decreasing rates affect the profit and loss of dealers’ stock.
