Indore Geetkar Damodar Virmal:- In view of the success of the ongoing campaign to make the city a child beggar free city, its scope is being expanded. Now action will be taken against child beggars as well as older beggars. The campaign to create a beggar free city will be made more effective by giving more momentum. Special attention will also be given to education, training, employment and rehabilitation of children freed from beggary and other beggars. Now the police will also be included in the team formed to take action against begging. Municipal Corporation employee will also be in the team. DSP level officers will monitor the police system. Besides, to make the system of monitoring beggary more effective, a control room will also be established by the Smart City Office. Through this control room, begging will be monitored through CCTV cameras installed at intersections.
This information was given here today by Collector Mr. Ashish Singh in the review meeting regarding making a beggar-free city. Smart City Mission CEO Mr. Divyank Singh, Additional Collector Mr. Gaurav Bainal, Mrs. Sapna Lovanshi, DCP Mr. Hansraj Singh and other concerned officers were present in the meeting. It was told in the meeting that the campaign to free child beggars has achieved unprecedented success. This campaign needs to be carried out continuously. Besides increasing the scope of the campaign, Collector Shri Ashish Singh has now given instructions to take action against older beggars also. He said that the campaign should be made more effective by giving it more momentum. Beggars should not be seen anywhere in the city. He gave instructions to start this process from Monday itself. He also said that the monitoring system should be strengthened. A separate nodal officer should also be made for monitoring by the Smart City Mission Office. He said that such places should be identified from where beggars come in large numbers for alms. First these people should be counseled. If people do not agree even after explanation, action should be taken. He also gave instructions to connect child beggars with education. He also said that work should be done by preparing an action plan for the training of older beggars, providing them employment and rehabilitation.
It was told in the meeting that continuous action is being taken by seven teams formed by the district administration to take action against begging. Till now 303 families have been advised not to beg. Under the campaign, 112 children were also explained about not begging. 20 children were taken into custody after they were found begging. In some cases, FIR has also been lodged against the culprits. Posters have also been pasted in temples for awareness. Besides, monitoring is also being done through CCTV cameras. It has been decided to reward those who give information about begging by giving them one thousand rupees in cash. WhatsApp number 9691729017 has been issued to provide information related to begging. So far 26 citizens have given information about begging on this number. As soon as the information was received, immediate action was taken by the parties.
