Today, a one-day training workshop on the subject of “Right to Information Provisions” was organized for the police officers of Gwalior district in the Police Control Room Auditorium, Gwalior. The training workshop was organized under the chairmanship of State Information Commissioner Bhopal Shri Rahul Singh. In this training workshop, Mr. Rahul Singh Commissioner, State Information Commissioner Bhopal, Mr. Rajesh Singh Chandel, BHP, Superintendent of Police Gwalior, Additional Superintendent of Police City (East/Traffic/Crime) Gwalior, Mr. Rishikesh Meena, BHP, Additional. Superintendent of Police City (North) Shri Shiaz K.M., BHP, Addl. Superintendent of Police City (West) Shri Gajendra Singh Vardhaman, Att. Superintendent of Police Rural Shri Niranjan Sharma, RTI Advocate Shri Abhay Jain, Gazetted Officers of Police and all the police station in-charges of Gwalior district were present.
First of all, the chief guest Mr. Rahul Singh Commissioner, State Information Commissioner, Bhopal was welcomed by SP Gwalior and Additional Superintendent of Police City (East/Traffic/Crime) Gwalior Rishikesh Meena by giving him a flower bouquet, after which Additional Superintendent of Police City (East/Traffic/Crime) The Gwalior police officers present were informed about the outline of the training workshop related to Right to Information. On this occasion, he told the police officers present that this is a serious matter and when RTI is imposed, it should be taken seriously and all police station in-charges should keep a register in which information regarding the RTI is filed.
Chief guest Shri Rahul Singh Commissioner, State Information Commissioner, Bhopal, while addressing the present police officers, said that the police department is directly linked to the RTI Act. All of you should try to ensure that the person filing RTI is completely satisfied with the information given by you. He said that many times you people make mistakes in RTI information due to which you have to suffer huge losses. To give correct information, it is important for all of you to keep the records of your police station correct and accurate so that you can provide correct information when RTI is filed. He said that some people are aware of the time limit of 30 days while in some cases information has to be provided under RTI within 24 hours. On this occasion, he informed the police officers about many such provisions of RTI about which he was unaware. He said that whoever files RTI should provide information by dealing with him in good faith. On this occasion, he also informed the police officers about the punishment to be imposed under the provisions of RTI. At the end of the program, the questions and doubts raised by the present police officers regarding RTI provisions were resolved. He told that what information is to be given under RTI and what information is not to be given but in case of not giving it, there should be a proper reason for it. The police officers present were also informed about the provisions of RTI by Mr. Abhay Jain, RTI Advocate present in the program.
Superintendent of Police, Gwalior, Shri Rajesh Singh Chandel, BHPSU, in his address at the end of the program said that RTI Act is a very important subject and RTI makes the law and order system transparent. Many times, due to being busy with duty, we make mistakes in RTI related matters. In which we need to improve a lot. He instructed all the police station in-charges present in the training to properly and systematically maintain the records of the police station and said that while taking any action, they must keep in mind that in future information may have to be given under RTI. At the end of the training workshop, he thanked Shri Rahul Singh, Commissioner, State Information Commissioner, Bhopal and his team for providing training and presented memento on behalf of Gwalior Police.
