Banks should be given possession of the assets of people who do not repay home loans – Collector

Gwalior 08 February 2024/ Under the SARFAESI Act, the concerned bank will be given possession of the houses and other assets of the people who have taken loans from banks to build houses. This action will be taken in those cases in which the Collector Court has decided in favor of the bank under the SARFAESI Act. The Honorable High Court has also shown special seriousness regarding the effective implementation of this Act. In implementation of this, Collector and District Magistrate Shri Akshay Kumar Singh held a meeting and gave instructions to the concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrates and Tehsildars to materialize this action in the form of a campaign. On Thursday, a meeting of the district administration and police officers was held in the police control room in the presence of Deputy Inspector General of Police Ms. Krishnaveni Deshavtu and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Rajesh Chandel.

Collector Shri Singh stressed in the meeting that all the SDMs and Tehsildars should implement the decisions taken under the SARFAESI Act with the cooperation of the police. He said that in the cases filed by the banks under SARFAESI Act for non-repayment of home loan, where the decision has been taken in favor of the banks, the banks should immediately get the possession of the asset mentioned in the mortgage. There should not be any laxity in this. It was informed in the meeting that during the last month, banks have been given possession of their assets in about a dozen cases under the SARFAESI Act. This action is continuing continuously.

Senior Superintendent of Police Shri Rajesh Chandel assured in the meeting that there will be full cooperation from the police in enforcing the SARFAESI Act. He instructed the police officers present in the meeting to cooperate in following the SARFAESI Act by coordinating with the concerned SDM and Tehsildar.

In the meeting held in the police control room here on Thursday, Additional Superintendent of Police Mr. Gajendra Vardhaman and Mr. Renwal and SDM Gwalior City Mr. Atul Singh, SDM Murar Mr. Ashok Chauhan and SDM Lashkar Mr. Naresh Kumar Gupta, other officers of the district administration, City Superintendent of Police. And other concerned officials were present.
