During the investigation, the deceased was identified as Upendra Singh, son of the late Janak Singh Yadav, aged 23 years, a resident of village Lilwari police station in Aswar district Bhind. A prima facie investigation found that the deceased was murdered by strangulation by an unknown person. From which a case of UPC 13/2024 Section 302 IPC was registered against an unknown accused in the Maharajpura police station and taken up for investigation.
Taking the above murder incident seriously, Superintendent of Police Gwalior Shri Rajesh Singh Chandel, BHPUS, and Superintendent of Police (North) Shri Amrit Meena were instructed to form a team at the Maharajpura police station and immediately arrest the unknown accused of murder. During the investigation and on the basis of technical evidence, the police came to know the name of a suspect, Bhure alias Sanjay Yadav, a resident of Barechha police station, Sevda district, Datia, who is the brother-in-law of the deceased. When the suspect was summoned by the police and interrogated regarding the said murder incident, he first tried to mislead the police team.
When there were repeated contradictions in his statements, he was interrogated thoroughly by the police team, and he confessed to committing the murder along with his two other friends. The suspect also revealed the names of his two other associates, who were caught by the police team, and during interrogation, both of them also confessed to the murder. He called the deceased near Badegaon and took him in his car to Behta Highway on the pretext of showing him the plot. The three accused together murdered Upendra Yadav by strangulating him with a rope.
