Tasmac revises liquor prices from November 1, links refund to bottle returns

31 Oct 2026, 12:16 AM 1 min read

CHENNAI The Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (Tasmac) will increase the maximum retail price (MRP) of all liquor variants in the State by ₹10 with effective November 1 by adding an environment cess to the existing price. Tipplers can get this ₹10 reimbursed by returning the empty liquor bottles. The revision covers Indian Made Foreign Liquor, beer, wine, liquor from other States, and imported liquor.

Prices of liquor supplied at FL2 and FL3 licenced premises will be revised. Tasmac has instructed manufacturers and distributors to ensure that revised price labels are affixed at production facilities, wholesale depots, and retail outlets. Existing stocks without buy back QR code stickers must be identified and labelled by October 31. The Corporation has instructed shop personnel not to collect any additional amount towards the scheme over and above the revised MRP.

Tasmac has instructed all district managers to conduct training for all shop supervisors and shop personnel on the revised MRP and bill generation system. Any deviation will be viewed seriously and the officers and personnel concerned shall be held responsible.
