Tiger Shroff shooting case: Police lens on Lawrence's US-based aide Randeep Malik

NEW DELHI: Security agencies probing the attack on actor Tiger Shroff are investigating the role of Lawrence Bishnoi’s top-tier US-based operative Randeep Malik, notwithstanding gangster Anil Pandit claiming responsibility for it on social media. Malik is considered very close to both Lawrence and his brother Anmol, who are also likely to be questioned in their respective jails in Gujarat and Delhi soon, sources have said.Pandit and Shroff ’s shooter Rehan both reported to Malik and were considered “his men” till a few months ago, a source said.

Rehan had been earlier tasked by Malik and Pandit with a shooting incident in Sonipat as well.“Rehan was shown the same ‘American dream’ that Malik had shown Pandit in the past,” a source said. As Pandit had been sent to California through the “Dunkey” route months after the Siddhu Moose Wala murder, he was cited as a success story to young recruits.Pandit used to handle “Dabba calls” for Malik till last year.

In underworld parlance, “Dabba calls” refer to Voice over IP (VoIP) calls routed through speakers using multiple connected phones at different locations so that the real caller’s identity and physical location remain concealed.Once settled, Pandit began managing secret communication set-ups for Malik, who personally trained Pandit.Till a few months ago, screenshots used to appear in both their names.

“However, Pandit was given an independent role in the gang recently and attached with the faction groomed by Anmol Bishnoi. Malik was placed in the senior tier which deals with planning and target selection,” said another source.This is perhaps why the screenshot in Tiger Shroff case bore the names of Malik and Anmol — the latter is currently lodged in Tihar jail.Get the latest India News and Live updates.
