RAJKOT: A man was booked for allegedly setting his neighbour’s car on fire in Morbi after becoming irritated by the vehicle’s parking sensor alerts, police said. The fire caused damage estimated at Rs 3.5 lakh to the car owned by a woman advocate.Morbi City ‘A’ Division police have registered a case against the accused, identified as Shikhar Jayeshbhai Gohel, for allegedly pouring an inflammable substance on the car and setting it ablaze. The incident came to light after CCTV footage showing the alleged act went viral. The footage shows a man approaching the parked car with what appears to be a container of inflammable liquid.

He pours the liquid over the vehicle, takes out a matchbox and sets it on fire. Within moments, flames begin to engulf the car.The man then appears to take out his mobile phone and record the burning vehicle instead of leaving the scene. The footage subsequently shows him unlocking another car parked across the street. He returns towards the burning vehicle before getting into the other car and driving away a few minutes later. The timestamp visible in the footage reads 4.44pm on October 28.According to the complaint, Pushpa Bhatt, a practising advocate residing on Ravapar Road, had parked her car near the residence of fellow advocate Mahidhar Dave on Vaghpara Street No.

17 around 2 pm on Wednesday after returning from work.At around 5pm, Dave called Bhatt to inform her that her car had caught fire outside his house. Bhatt and her husband rushed to the spot and found the bonnet engulfed in flames, while local residents were trying to douse the fire.Emergency services and the fire brigade were alerted, and firefighters eventually brought the blaze under control.

The fire gutted almost the entire vehicle, including the cabin and engine compartment, leaving only the rear boot area relatively unaffected. The alleged act came to light when Dave reviewed CCTV footage recorded by a camera installed outside his residence. The footage purportedly showed their neighbour, Gohel, pouring a flammable substance over the car and setting it on fire.Speaking to The Times of India, police inspector Y B Jadeja said the complainant and the accused were neighbours and had an ongoing dispute over parking.“According to preliminary information, the car was being parked near the accused’s residence, and he used to get irritated by the vehicle’s parking sensors, which would beep repeatedly,” Jadeja said.Based on Bhatt’s complaint, Morbi City ‘A’ Division police booked Gohel under Sections 326(f) and 324(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Rajkot | Silver Rate in Rajkot | Bank Holidays in Rajkot | Public Holidays in Rajkot | Rajkot AQI | Weather in Rajkot | Petrol Price in Rajkot | Diesel Price in Rajkot | CNG Price in Rajkot | LPG Price in RajkotStay updated with the latest Rajkot news.
