Heavy rainfall exposed the corporation’s works in Akola. Due to cloudburst rains in Ganganagar, Shivsena Vasahat, Nirika Nagar Margat, Iqbal Colony, Sanjay Nagar, Naigaon, Akot Fall, Kaulkhed of Akola city on 7th and 8th July, rainwater entered. Houses, grains, and animal fodder of citizens in these areas got soaked in rainwater and citizens have suffered huge financial losses. Since there are no concrete drains to carry rainwater in this area, the water falling in this area flows in the direction in which it meets and enters the houses of citizens. Hence, a memorandum was given to Sunil Lahane by the Akola City District Congress Committee under the leadership of former opposition party leader Sajid Khan Pathan demanding the construction of concrete drains in this area.

Sajid Pathan said that in fact, most of the urban development funds and non-dalit funds received from the government every year are given to the Akola East region. Also, the delimitation fund received by Akola Nagar Palika has been distributed to Akola East. Hence, the development of Akola West is stalled, and due to the above-mentioned area being in Akola West, the least development work has been done in this area. Due to this, there are not enough funds available to build paved roads and drains in the area. Hence, whenever there is excessive rainfall, this area is affected the most.
